Our Story

The mission of the GnomeMade Artisans is to encourage art awareness and appreciation for art, folk arts and fine crafts by supporting working artisans and contributing to local art education. The unincorporated organization has produced the GnomeMade Artisan Market for 39 years and the group has evolved to include several emerging and professional artists. Individual artists volunteer their time to local organizations and schools by teaching arts and craft classes. Individual venues host painting classes and weekend creative get-aways.

The GnomeMade Market is an annual art and folk art market exhibited in private homes and in historic New Ulm locations. The original boutiques were created by a group of young women who wanted to share their passion for creating original art and selling hand crafted items while remaining home with their children. The elegant architecture of many of the historic locations and homes is easily transformed into showcase venues for artists to sell their work.

The GnomeMade Market is held every fall in November, coinciding with the Minnesota DNR Deer Hunting Season Opener. The weekend event is an opportunity for non-hunters to get a jump start on the holiday shopping season.
